Early Life and Education

Born on September 15, 1985, in the culturally rich and vibrant Community of Mbagbange Utur Mbachume of Makutdi local Government Area,of Bar council Ward, Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State, Nigeria, Shirsha Chia's journey began with humble beginnings. From a young age, he was instilled with values of hard work, integrity, and compassion, principles that would become the bedrock of his illustrious career.

Shirsha Chia educational path was marked by determination and a steadfast commitment to excellence. His primary education commenced at N.K.S.T. Primary School Wadata in 1987, but he later transferred to LGEA Primary School Demekpe Makurdi, where he completed his studies and earned his First School Leaving Certificate in 1993.

He continued his secondary education at Community Secondary School Wadata Makurdi, where he sat for his first WAEC exam in 1998. Despite facing challenges with the results, he persisted and retook the exams at Unique Ambassador Secondary School Makurdi in 2002, yet his performance still did not meet the criteria for university admission.

Undeterred by these early setbacks, Shirsha Chia pursued a Diploma in Social Work and Development at Benue State University (BSU), enrolling in 2006 and completing the program in 2008. Recognizing the importance of a strong academic foundation, he retook his West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) exams at Atta Secondary School Adi, Buruku LGA, Benue State in 2016, achieving excellent results.

With a renewed focus on higher education, Shirsha earned not one, but two Bachelor’s degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria in 2022, and a Bachelor of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Benue State University Makurdi in 2023. His dual degrees reflect his dedication to understanding human behavior and providing guidance and support to others. Further solidifying his expertise, he is presently pursing a Master’s Degree in Criminology and Security Studies at National Open University of Nigeria, equipping him with advanced knowledge and skills in the complex realm of crime and security.

Shirsha Chia embarked on his professional journey at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, a prestigious institution that was once known as the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi. His tenure at this venerable institution began on March 13, 2008, marking the start of a remarkable 16-year journey in the Professional field of campus Security.

From the outset, Shirsha’s impact was felt deeply within the university’s security department. His initial appointment as a Senior Patrolman was not merely a position; it was the beginning of a distinguished career marked by progressive promotions and significant contributions. Over the years, Shirsha’s dedication and expertise earned him successive promotions, rising through the ranks to become a Senior Security Officer on October 1, 2023.

His journey through the ranks was characterized by an unwavering commitment to excellence. His roles have included crucial responsibilities such as serving as the Officer in Charge of the Guest House at Hudco Quarters North Bank and the 2IC for various security beats , including the Feed Mill Security beat, and North Core Security beat.

His commitment to Campus security led to a series of promotions, reflecting his hard work and proficiency: His promotion from senior patrolman [SP] to Assistant Supervisor (ASP), on October 1, 2011 was a reflection of his hard work and dedication to his work career. He was again promoted from Assistant Supervisor (ASP) to Supervisor (SP) on October 1, 2014 as a result of his hard work and dedication to his career. He was Again promoted from Supervisor [SP] to Assistant Security Officer (ASO) on October 1, 2017 as a result of his hard work and dedication to his career He was again promoted from Assistant Security Officer (ASO] to .Security Officer (SO) October 1, 2020 as a result of his hard work and dedication to his career, He was promoted from Security Officer (SO) to .Senior Security Officer (SSO), on the October 1, 2023 his present rank still waiting his next promotion by God grace.

Shirsha’s Chia dedication to safety and school security is reflected in his written work. His first book, titled Campus Security Operational Manual, published in 2024, is a comprehensive guide based on his extensive experience in the professional field of campus security. This book addresses critical issues related to campus safety and security, offering valuable insights and practical solutions. His interest in writing on Campus security emerged from his desire to share his knowledge and contribute to improving safety protocols in educational institutions. Largely drawn from his personal hurdles he has been encountering during his course of duty at the campus.

Outside of his professional and community achievements, Shirsha is a devoted family man, married to Mrs Mnguverter Chia from the family of Mtom Twar from Ucha Mbaduem ukum local Government of Benue state. He is blessed six children.

His personal interests include handball, swimming, reading, and writing. These hobbies reflect his active, engaged, and intellectually curious nature.
